Jessica "tagged" me on her blog, so I guess it's my turn to share about myself. Here goes.
First the rules:
1. Post the rules.
2. Post a photo and 11 random things about you.
3. Answer questions.
4. Ask questions.
5. Tag someone else.

This photo is from Veteran's Day last year when we took Elise to the Phoenix Zoo. She's signing elephant.
1. I hate driving. Therefore, I love that Matt is an excellent driver and loves to drive.
2. I am definitely a night owl.
3. When I was younger, I was determined to be an OB/GYN when I grew up. I'm not really sure where that idea came from, but I stuck with it for years until I decided that what I really wanted to do was major in English.
4. Although I majored in English, I do not want to teach high school English. (Somehow, people often jump to this conclusion.) In fact, I can think of few jobs that pertain to my degree that I would enjoy less. What I really want to do is work as an editor for the Ensign magazine. 5. I love carnivals.
6. I am a linguistic learner.
7. Blood, needles, body fluids, etc. do not bother me. This has come in handy as a mom.
8. I am a very sound sleeper.
9. Even though my hands are large and somewhat manly, I like them. They remind me of my dad's hands.
10. I am absolutely not a pet person.
11. I love caramel, especially those chewy squares that you use to make caramel apples.
1. If you could live anywhere, where would you live?
Western Washington state. Somewhere green with mountains. I've never been to Washington, but go ahead and tell me this isn't beautiful.
2. What gluten-containing food do you miss the most?
Bagels. There are plenty of gluten-free breads, pancakes, waffles, cookies, pizzas, cakes, and brownies. I have yet to eat a gluten-free bagel.
3. What are you proudest of right now?
Elise. I have never been so involved in the development of something that turned out so great. When she learns new words or concepts, or if she sings along to a new song, sometimes I'm so proud it hurts.
4. If you had multiple personalities, what would one of them be named?
Beau. At least, that's what my literature teacher called me in the sixth grade when he was telling each of us what our names would be if we had been born the opposite sex. Maybe that personality would be a hick from Louisiana?
5. What is your greatest hope for Elise?
My greatest hope for Elise is that she will become all she was meant to become, especially reaching the height of her potential for real happiness. I don't want anything to slow her down or get in the way of that. One part of this hope is that she will one day find an excellent husband who will make her deliriously happy for all the right reasons.
6. What makes you laugh so hard that you pee?
Well, lately I've had plenty of trouble keeping myself from peeing when I don't want to (thank you, pregnancy). But accidental peeing from laughing? Maybe food fights. And watching Matt laugh really hard.
7. What has been your favorite date night so far?
My favorite date night was probably the night Matt proposed to me. We went to the First Presidency Christmas Devotional in Salt Lake, then came back to Provo to the Marriott Center lawn, where we had had our first kiss. Matt gave me a book I had been wanting to read, but he had glued the pages together so you could only open it in one place. He had cut out a little box in the pages for the ring to fit. Everything was so perfect.
8. What book is next on your "to read" list?
Maybe Little Women? Memory Keeper's Daughter? Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistlestop Cafe? I haven't decided yet.
9. What one thing do you know now that you wish you knew two years ago?
I think President Uchtdorf said it better than I could when he said, "Please understand that what you see and experience now is not what forever will be. You will not feel loneliness, sorrow, pain, or discouragement forever. We have the faithful promise of God that He will neither forget nor forsake those who incline their hearts to Him. Have hope and faith in that promise." I feel like really knowing this would have made finishing school as well as the first six months of motherhood much more enjoyable for me. Sometimes you get the feeling hard things will go on forever, but that's just not true. And in the midst of the hard things, so often there are very happy things too. 10. What is your favorite gospel truth?
God the Father and Jesus Christ love us infinitely and completely, thoroughly and intensely. I think when you truly come to understand this principle, everything else makes sense, both in the gospel and in the details of life.
11. What grammar rule, when broken, upsets you the most?
The misplacement of apostrophes. It's always wrong (never just a stylistic choice), it's always distracting, and it shows that you're not thinking about what you're saying/writing. And if you're not thinking about what you're saying/writing, why should I, as the listener/reader, bother either?
1. What talent would you like to develop by the time you're fifty?
2. What fictional character do you relate to the most and why?
3. If you had the choice between severe motion sickness for the rest of your life or being allergic to dogs, which would you choose?
4. What place would you visit if you could go anywhere on earth for a week?
5. If you could have a lifetime supply of one product of your choice, what would it be?
6. What is your favorite indoor thing to do when the power is out?
7. What is your favorite thing about your own appearance?
8. What makes you happy when you've had a bad day?
9. What is your favorite childhood memory?
10. What is the scariest thing you've ever done?
11. What are you looking forward to the most in the next month?
