Goodbye, First Trimester!

I'm 13 weeks pregnant today. We had an appointment at the ob/gyn today, the first one with our doctor, and everything looks great with the baby. Dr. Russell Beck seems really nice, and much quieter and more reserved than my last ob (which suits me just fine; we liked our last ob, but he once drew a diagram, complete with pubic hair, on my medical folder, which made me feel a little awkward). Dr. Beck did have me laughing, though, when he rewound and replayed ultrasound footage of the baby's mouth opening and closing, having the baby "say" things like "Hi, Mom!"

See how the baby's hand is up by his/her face? Maybe we're going to have another thumb sucker in the family. Five fingers on that tiny hand. A little beating heart. I love this baby so much already.

I have to say I'll be glad to see this first trimester go. I'm counting on the fact that the second trimester will bring more energy, less nausea, and more baby belly showing (which is better, at least, than just looking kind of bloated). And every day pregnant is one day closer to holding this little one in my arms! (Much more fun than holding a baby in your uterus.)

On a side note, I wanted to share a little anecdote from last night that made me laugh. I asked Matt to look up directions to the doctor's office today. He agreed, and he asked me the doctor's name. I told him, "Russell Beck," but he heard "Wrestlebeck." Confused, and thinking I was only telling him the doctor's last name, he asked me how to spell that. I retorted, "You don't know how to spell Russell Beck?" He continued with his search for "wrestlebeck obgyn mesa az." After a few minutes of searching, he said, "I'm not coming up with very good search results." "Really?" I asked. "I didn't have any problems finding him when I searched for his name before." I peeked over his shoulder to see what he was searching for, and I had a good laugh. I guess I should have spelled it for him. Or spoken more clearly.
