Let's Go Fly a Kite

On St. Patrick's Day, we had some pleasant but windy weather, so we decided to go have a picnic and fly kites at the park. It turned out to be a lot of fun.

Elise was more interested in Matt's food than her own.

This was the closest I could get to capturing Elise's smile. She's just too fast! But there were plenty of smiles. She loved getting to run around at the park.

I love Elise's face in this one.
(You'll probably want to enlarge it to see.)

running just for the joy of it
(I wish I got this much joy out of running!)

Elise and I checked out the playground while Matt tried out the other kite.

Spontaneous kisses from Elise are the best! So glad I caught this one on camera.

Then we headed to a nearby pond to see the ducks. Matt had ridden past this park on his bike earlier in the day, and he saw that there were ducks, which is a big reason why we chose to go here. We brought bread to feed them, but, sadly, we were met by this sign:

So we just got to look, but Elise was okay with that. She was getting pretty tired at this point.

Before we left, we quickly stopped by a farm across the street to see this horse. Elise was enchanted.

She fell asleep in the car on the way home, which she almost never does. She was just so ready for nap time.

What a fun way to spend the day as a family! Hopefully we'll get to do this again soon.
